About Festival

The Vancouver Indie Film Festival is a live event celebrating short and feature films. Our mission is to shine a spotlight on exceptional films, presenting them to an authentic audience and having them evaluated by professional critics. At the same time, we aim to offer viewers a unique opportunity to experience an eclectic range of films that they might not encounter elsewhere.

Being part of our official selection adds significant value to a film, and we hope it opens doors to other opportunities, such as winning awards and gaining industry recognition. To participate, filmmakers must first choose one or more categories and submit their films. The jury then reviews the submissions to select the semi-finalists. Semi-finalist filmmakers are notified via email. Following this, the jury re-evaluates the semi-finalist short films and determines the winners in each category.

The list of winners is published on social media and our official website, and the directors are notified by email. Finally, select winning projects will be considered for inclusion in our live event, offering them an exclusive opportunity for further exposure.
